Straight Talk Samsung R451C Cell phone review

Samsung R451C

The new Samsung R451C from Straight talk

This new CDMA phone from Samsung has a great QWERTY keyboard.

Specs:

  • Bluetooth
  • 2' LCD screen
  • Full slide out QWERTY Keyboard
  • CDMA (No Sim card)
  • 1.3 Mega Pixel Camera
  • MicroSD Slot
  • MP3 Player
  • Picture manager
  • Voice commands
  • 64MB Internal memory
  • TXT/Picture message
  • Speaker phone
  • 3.5mm Headphone jack
  • 3.7Volt Li-ion Battery 3.55Wh
  • Web-Browser
  • Operates on Verizon network

Ok here is an honest review, of the R541C.

I saw that Straight Talk had advertised that their new Pre-paid service has Unlimited Calls, TXT, and Data for US$45 for 30 days, I thought I had better check this one out.

The unlimited data was applealing, and was the best phone on offer from Straigh Talk. The R451C was $99 from Wal-Mart.

The phone is very neat 2' x 4.25' and 0.6' deep, fits very well in the pocket, the QWERTY keyboard buttons are a good size & are easy to type with. The Internet browser can only be used when the keyboard is slid out. The browsing is html & images with some Javascript, there is no flash or other imbedded objects.

The Internet access is slow  CDMA X1 (it's not 3G) but it's very relieable.

I recommend this phone highly for anyone who wants a basic internet connection without  download or calling limits

Score: 9/10

exterior camera button on this phone is HORRIBLE. it is feather sensitive. I am constantly deleting accidental pictures taken as I'm pulling phone in and out of my pocket. I'm going to Crazy Glue the button in place because that's how annoying it is.

Problems at Straight Talk
Reply #49 on : Sun August 15, 2010, 16:23:50
I bought a StraightTalk phone and service plan from Walmart. I switched my Verizon number to this phone. Twice in the past three months on my service end date I lost my phone number even though I was supposedly on the auto-renewal plan. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to get through to a supervisor to fix the problem. The agents who answer your call in the Customer Service Dept are unable to help with this problem. Once I get through to a supervisor I was able to correct the problem. Can you imagine losing the phone number you have had for 10 years or more? Twice, StraightTalk automatically assigned me a new phone number. This is nerve racking and the fear I have is that it will happen again and that someone else might be assigned my number before I can have the problem fixed at Straight Talk. I'm waiting for my next auto renewal date to see if it happens again even though I have been assured twice that it could not happen again. If it does, I'm switching back to Verizon even though the cost is double that of StraightTalk.
