Straight Talk Samsung R451C Cell phone review

Samsung R451C

The new Samsung R451C from Straight talk

This new CDMA phone from Samsung has a great QWERTY keyboard.

Specs:

  • Bluetooth
  • 2' LCD screen
  • Full slide out QWERTY Keyboard
  • CDMA (No Sim card)
  • 1.3 Mega Pixel Camera
  • MicroSD Slot
  • MP3 Player
  • Picture manager
  • Voice commands
  • 64MB Internal memory
  • TXT/Picture message
  • Speaker phone
  • 3.5mm Headphone jack
  • 3.7Volt Li-ion Battery 3.55Wh
  • Web-Browser
  • Operates on Verizon network

Ok here is an honest review, of the R541C.

I saw that Straight Talk had advertised that their new Pre-paid service has Unlimited Calls, TXT, and Data for US$45 for 30 days, I thought I had better check this one out.

The unlimited data was applealing, and was the best phone on offer from Straigh Talk. The R451C was $99 from Wal-Mart.

The phone is very neat 2' x 4.25' and 0.6' deep, fits very well in the pocket, the QWERTY keyboard buttons are a good size & are easy to type with. The Internet browser can only be used when the keyboard is slid out. The browsing is html & images with some Javascript, there is no flash or other imbedded objects.

The Internet access is slow  CDMA X1 (it's not 3G) but it's very relieable.

I recommend this phone highly for anyone who wants a basic internet connection without  download or calling limits

Score: 9/10

i got one yesterday and its a 2.5mm jack. cant use 3.5. had to buy new head phones. and all you need for music is a sd memeory stick (2gb or less). you dont even need the cable if your pc supports sd memory. the memory stick comes with the adapter for your pc. you can pick one up for like $10.00-$13.00. *NOTE* YOU MUST INSERY THE SD MEMORY STICK INTO YOUR PHONE FIRST TO AUTO PROGRAM IT. then you may take it out put it in your pc and put songs on it. if you dont have the "My Muisc" file then you need to insert it into your phone first.

Samsung R451C Help
Reply #14 on : Mon February 22, 2010, 20:18:55
I love my straight talk plan, but my phone hasn't been working lately. My Samsung R451C freezes after about 2 minutes of turning it on and after about 1 minute of being frozen, will shut itself off and restart and freeze again. It can just be sitting on and do this over and over and over. It also will freeze using any application or function on the phone. It freezes while I am on the web, making a phone call, sending a text, and looking at pictures. Please help! I have only had the phone for 2 months and really need it fixed.

moving music files onto memory card

Insert 2 gb memory card into phone and connect phone to computer via usb cable, open my computer where the phone should pop up as drive e or f depending on how many drives are connected to the computer. In a seperate window locate the music file you wish to move to the phone/memory card, right click on the song and click copy then right click on the drive for the phone and click paste then open the drive and the songs will be listed beneath my music, my ringtones etc. highlight the song and drag it to whichever destination you need then disconnect phone. Songs loaded from limewire and cds work but copyrighted files such as itunes will not show up on the memory card or the phone.

A big fan of Straight Talk right here! I recently switched over because I heard from friends that the deal just couldn't be beaten - they were right. The unlimited $45 use plan works great for someone like me who is always on their phone, but does not want to deal with overage fees. The lure of finally being on a dependable and far reaching Verizon network was also a huge draw and I have to say, the Verizon network is just as great as everyone says. Best of all, I have all of these benefits without dealing with a contract or pages of bills every month. Straight Talk is helping me save over $50 a month and I wouldn't change that.

Quality Phone

The Samsung R451C is easily on the top of the prepaid phone market. The QWERTY keyboard is perfect for rapid texting, battery life is much longer than the average phone, and I've dropped it at least 10 times with nothing more than a scratch. Straight Talk's $45/mo unlimited plan on the Verizon network should easily be enough incentive to get this phone. There's no contract and you can cancel whenever you'd like. Best prepaid plan and phone out there!

How do you change the volume? I looked and looked but I cannot change the volume when talking to someone its very loud and I can still hear it when I hold it away from my head.
